DLF Limited, formerly known as Delhi Land & Finance, is one of India’s most prominent real estate developers with a legacy of nearly eight decades. Founded on July 4, 1946, by Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh, the company initially focused on building housing colonies in Delhi for families displaced after Partition. Its first project, Krishna Nagar, was completed in 1949, followed by developments such as Model Town and Greater Kailash.
After the Delhi Development Act restricted private real estate activity in Delhi, DLF shifted focus to nearby Gurgaon (Gurugram). Under the leadership of Kushal Pal Singh, who joined in 1961, the company transformed the region through its landmark DLF City project launched in the 1970s.
DLF went public in 2007 with one of India’s largest IPOs, raising about ₹9,000 crore.
